In order to replace the Wiper Arm (LHD), put the wipers in the park position and open the hood assembly. Position the driver side wiper corresponding to the orange line at the point of the
Wiper Blade tip at the center lower windshield and the passenger side wiper corresponding to the orange dot at the point of the Wiper Blade tip at the right lower side of the windshield. Take covers (2,5) off the Wiper Arm nuts (3,6) and the next step is to take the nuts (3,6) off from the Wiper Arm drive spindle. Press at the end of the liftgate/hood assist rod while removing or attaching it, do not press on the middle to avoid damage. If unfastening the driver side Wiper Arm, disconnect the upper hood assist rods from the assist rod ball studs and swing the hood rearward to the air inlet grille panel, holding up the hood assembly. If the Wiper Arm does not loosen from the Wiper Arm drive spindle, use the Wiper Arm puller (J 39822) to remove it. Clean the drive spindle knurls with a fine wirebrush and take out the Wiper Blade from the Wiper Arm. To install, attach the Wiper Blade to the Wiper Arm, the passenger side- Wiper Arm placement has Wiper Blade tip aligned to the orange dot, and the driving side-Wiper Blade tip aligned to the orange line. Mount the Wiper Arm to the Wiper Arm drive spindle with the nut hand-tightened onto the spindle (3,6) after bringing the wiper tenon fully into line with the arm hole; tighten the nut to 35 n.m (26 lb. Ft) (3,6). Secure the upper hood assist rods to the assist rod ball studs, install the Wiper Arm nut covers, close the hood assembly and operate the wipers and wash pattern to confirm operation ensuring driver side wiper does not go outside of wipe area.
