- Q: How to replace the wiper arm (RHD) on 2006 Cadillac CTS?A: You need to open the hood before replacing the Wiper Arm when the wipers are set to their park position. Position the driver side wiper against the orange line on the Wiper Blade tip below the center windshield while placing the passenger side wiper against the orange mark at the Wiper Blade's innermost part on the center lower side of the windshield. For each Wiper Arm disconnect the cover at positions 2 and 5 before taking out the nut 3 and 6 while keeping the Wiper Arm in place. Disconnect the upper hood support rods from the supporting studs by pushing gently at their ends instead of the body. Secure the hood top against the grille panel by moving it toward the back. You can remove the Wiper Arm from the drive spindle by using a Wiper Arm puller (J 39637) tool when the nut does not turn easily. Clean the drive spindle knurls with a fine wire brush and detach the Wiper Blade from the Wiper Arm. Fit the Wiper Blade onto the arm before placing the passenger side Wiper Arm with wiper tip against the orange dot on windshield's bottom outer edge and driver side Wiper Arm with wiper tip touching the orange line on windshield's lower center. Mount the Wiper Arm onto the Drive Shaft before tightening it to 35 n.m (26 lb ft) through the Wiper Arm nut (3, 6). Fit the hood lift rods back onto their ball studs at the hood assembly then place and screw on wiper nut covers. Lower the hood to check that the driver wiper stays within its designated wiping area while operating all wipers and sprayer at different water levels.
