2007 Cadillac CTS Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the thermostat (LP1, LY7) on 2007 Cadillac CTS?
A: To replace the Thermostat (LP1, LY7), start by draining the cooling system partially. It is important not to spread the upper and lower intake manifolds apart while doing this. Take out the upper Intake Manifold and the lower one; disconnect a surge tank hose from the Thermostat. Then undo the coolant pipe/Thermostat housing bolt and the upper bolt of the coolantpipe, as well as the cooling inlet pipe from the Thermostat. Next, unscrew the Thermostat bolts and take out the Thermostat, disposing of the Thermostat seal. For installation, fix the new Thermostat with new Thermostat seal tightening the Thermostat bolts to 10 n.m (89 lb in). Replace the coolant pipe with a new one, and attach a new seal and fasteners, (2 and 7), then reattach surge tank hose to Thermostat. Finally, install the upper Intake Manifold with the lower Intake Manifold, and fill the cooling system.
