• Q: How to Replace the Thermostat Housing on 2007 Cadillac CTS?

  A: Engine coolant Thermostat Housing (LP1, LY7) replacement requires disconnecting heater hoses from the heater core and removing Thermostat Housing bolts and Thermostat. Start by removing the Thermostat Housing and its accompanying heater pipes and hoses and bolts. Use a tool like gasket remover (J 28410) or an equivalent scraper to thoroughly clean sealing surfaces. Assemble heated components to the Thermostat Housing following which install the new gasket. Tighten only some of the Thermostat Housing bolts just enough to keep the gasket in place before securing the assembly with heater pipes and hoses and bolts and gasket. After securing the Thermostat Housing bolts to 20 n.m (15 lb ft), install the Thermostat and reconnect both heater hoses to the heater core.
