How to replace the trailing arm on 2007 Cadillac CTS?

Start by supporting the vehicle off the ground while keeping it steady then remove the tire and wheel from underneath. Apply a suitable jack under the lower Control Arm before unscrewing the brake pipe bracket retaining nuts followed by unbolting the bracket from its mounting studs. The procedure requires the removal of the lower Control Arm to knuckle mounting bolt and Trailing Arm to knuckle mounting nut and bolt. Begin by supporting the frame with a proper jack while removing the front bolts that secure the rear frame. Lower and support the front section of the rear frame until you can access all mounting points. First remove the rear frame mounting bolt and nut from the Trailing Arm before taking out the Trailing Arm itself. The installation process begins with mounting the Trailing Arm followed by attachment to the frame through the bolt and nut until the torque reaches 90 n.m (66 lb ft). Lift the frame after support removal then install the front bolts through the rear frame before torquing them to 265 n.m (195 lb ft). Mount the Trailing Arm onto the knuckle mounting bolt and its accompanying nut before applying 175 n.m (129 lb ft) of torque to the bolt. Secure the brake pipe bracket to mounting studs by applying 10 n.m force (89 lb in) to tighten retaining nuts. To mount the lower Control Arm at the knuckle position tighten the bolt to 175 n.m (129 lb ft). Complete the repair by placing the tire back on and lowering the vehicle to the ground.
