2007 Cadillac Escalade ESV Exhaust Heat Shield Parts and Q&A
Q: How to replace the exhaust heat shield on the dash panel on 2007 Cadillac Escalade ESV?
A: Start by supporting the vehicle while raising it before beginning to change the Exhaust Heat Shield on the dash panel. And remove the shield from the vehicle by disconnecting the engine shield bolts. A technician must uninstall the bolts and skid plate of the oil pan skid plate from 1500 series vehicles. After loosening the 2 rear oil pan skid plate bolts of 2500 series vehicles it is necessary to remove the 2 front oil pan skid plate bolts and the skid plate. The Catalytic Converter must be taken off if needed. Proceed to uninstall dash panel Exhaust Heat Shield nuts (2 or 4) before removing dash panel Exhaust Heat Shield (1 or 3) from its dash panel studs. You should fix the dash panel Exhaust Heat Shield (1 or 3) to the dash panel studs before securing it with dash panel Exhaust Heat Shield nuts (2 or 4) using a torque of 9 n.m (80 lb in). Restoration of the Catalytic Converter should only take place in case of need. Installation of the oil pan skid plate includes positioning the front bolts (2) which require a 28 n.m (21 lb ft) torque specification on 2500 series vehicles but they may omit front bolts on other models unless necessary. The 1500 series vehicle requires positioning of the oil pan skid plate before installing the slidable oil pan skid plate bolts according to a torque of 28 n.m (21 lb ft) if they are installed. Place the engine shield to the frame before securing and tightening all engine shield bolts to 20 n.m (15 lb ft). Finally, lower the vehicle.
