2007 Cadillac SRX Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Replace Coil Springs on 2007 Cadillac SRX?
A: The coil spring replacement process starts by lifting and holding the vehicle before taking the tire with wheel off the vehicle. Separate the automatic level control sensor link along with the head lamp adjustment link from the upper Control Arm. Rising the lower Control Arm with a suitable jack supports its position until you remove the shock absorber lower mounting bolt. First lower the lower Control Arm and remove its support but keep the rear frame stable with a jack. Before starting coil spring replacement remove all frame bolts from the side of the vehicle. Remove the frame to body side mounting bolts along with washers, but lower the frame just enough to extract the coil spring while staying below guide pin height. Drive down the frame side to access the coil spring before removing it from the vehicle. Fitting the new coil spring requires vehicle placement before lifting the frame. Place the frame to body mounting bolts with washers on their appropriate positions before tightening the front bolts to 265 n.m (195 lb ft) and the rear bolts to 191 n.m (140 lb ft). Compatible jacking equipment goes underneath the lower Control Arm to lift until the shock absorber reaches the knuckle position. Secure the shock absorber lower retaining bolt at 150 n.m (111 lb ft) torque. Attach the head lamp adjustment link and the automatic level control sensor link to the upper Control Arm after removing the jack before reinstalling the tire along with the wheel followed by vehicle lowering.
