2007 Cadillac SRX Parking Brake Cable Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the parking brake intermediate cable with a Parking Brake Cable on 2007 Cadillac SRX?
A: One must begin by fully releasing the park brake before lifting and supporting the vehicle in order to replace the parking brake intermediate cable. The park brake intermediate cable needs removing from its connector while pulling it downward near the park brake connector. The Parking Brake Cable release tool (J 37043) serves to compress the locking retainer of the intermediate park brake cable housing for removing the cable from its Floor Pan bracket position. Proceed with disconnecting both the park brake cable guide nut on the mounting stud and then the park brake cable guide bolt on the Floor Pan and complete by taking out the park cable guides. First disconnect the intermediate cable on both sides from the rear equalizer and the right rear park brake cable connector. After that disconnect the intermediate cable housing from the rear cable housing retaining bracket by depressing the locking retainer prior to removal from the vehicle. During installation route and install the intermediate park brake cable through the park brake cable retaining bracket until it reaches its proper seat position. Secure the right rear Parking Brake Cable connector onto the intermediate park brake cable after which attach both ends to the equalizer . First install the park cable guides before installing the Floor Pan park brake cable guide bolt to 10 n.m (88 lb in), then follow with the park brake cable guide nut on the mounting stud at 10 n.m (88 lb in). The intermediate park brake cable housing requires connection to the Floor Pan bracket with proper seating of its housing retainer. Connect the intermediate park brake cable into its cable retaining bracket then activate the lock mechanism before linking its front point to the park brake cable connector. A low-repositioned vehicle must undergo 1 to 2 pedal cycles of the park brake for proper retainer seating.
