  A: Prior to replacing the parking brake intermediate cable start by checking that the park brake activating system is fully disengaged. Raise and support the vehicle. Remove the intermediate park brake cable from the park brake connector by pulling downwards near the connector. The Parking Brake Cable release tool (J 37043) aids in depressing the locking retainer of intermediate park brake cable housing before the cable can be separated from the Floor Pan bracket. The vehicle owner should start by removing the park brake cable guide nut from the mounting stud and proceeding with taking out the park brake cable guide bolt from the Floor Pan followed by the park cable guides. Thanks to kept the locking retainer depressed users remove the intermediate cable from both the rear equalizer and right rear park brake cable connector followed by separating the intermediate cable housing from the rear cable housing retaining bracket.
