  A: The first task for replacing the rear object sensor is to remove the rear bumper fascia and unplug the electrical connection from the rear object sensor. After lifting the brackets on the housing the rear object sensor becomes accessible then use pressure on the spring element to detach it from the housing mass before tab-releasing the housing. Push the rear object sensor bezel completely through the fascia in order to extract it. The new rear object sensor requires paint application before installation yet the paint layer must not exceed 6 mils according to results of a non-ferrous metal compatible paint thickness gage.
