The SIR system must be disabled before beginning to replace the Inflatable Restraint Side Impact Sensor. Begin by taking out the inflatable restraint side impact sensor from underneath its retaining bolts which are mounted inside the door trim panel. Place the new sensor into the car before ensuring compliance with the Fastener Notice and tightening retaining bolts to 9 N.m (80 lb in) torque. After finishing, install the door trim panel then activate the SIR system.
