2007 Cadillac XLR Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the fuel injector and fuel rail on 2007 Cadillac XLR?
A: Start by using ch 48027 to empty fuel pressure from the system and without it or without either of them. Wear safety glasses before commencing on the front section of supercharger inlet duct assembly removal while maintaining safety against compressed air. Compressed air must be used to clean supercharger Fuel Rail and injector ports before the sciap , baro , MAP Sensor connectors get their electrical connections removed together with vacuum lines of the map and sciap sensors. Keep coolant away from the supercharger drive belt by bracketing the map sensors along with the sciap and baro when you remove them. Position a shop rag underneath the supercharger to absorb any leakages. Excessively drain the charge air cooling system before separating the front section of the charge air cooler front manifold assembly from its o-ring seals and placing the manifold with attached hoses to one side. Disconnect the electrical connectors between the air inlet temperature 2 sensor, supercharger bypass solenoid valve and supercharger actuator valve vacuum line. Engine compartment fuel line fittings must be removed from the Fuel Rail while Fuel Injector electrical connectors (1, 4, 6, 8) from both engine sides need separating from their connectors and the right rear injector rail bolt receives ground wire removal. Lastly, oxygen sensor electrical connector assemblies (1, 2) are detached from both Fuel Rail brackets. Start by opening the Fuel Rail connection to the supercharger then remove the Fuel Rail attaching studs and reposition the rear inlet duct according to need before taking out the Fuel Rail assembly from the supercharger. First remove the lower o-ring seals from the injector then take out the retainers if required before replacing the fuel injectors from the Fuel Rail by discarding the o-ring seals. Lubricate the new Fuel Injector o-ring seals using clean engine oil followed by appropriate installation of these seals onto the fuel injectors until secured through new retainer clips that must be aligned perpendicular to the crankshaft centerline. Installation of new o-ring seals on each injector tip requires lubrication before placement on the spray ends. The fuel injectors and rail must align with the supercharger before using a press to carefully lower the Fuel Rail assembly. Secure the Fuel Rail to the clip located on the supercharger front by tightening the Fuel Rail attaching studs to 10 n.m (89 lb in). The Fuel Rail brackets will receive Oxygen Sensor electrical connector assemblies (1, 2) simultaneously while the ground wire should be reconnected to the right rear injector rail bolt and Fuel Injector electrical connectors (1, 4, 6, 8) should be attached to both sides of the engine. Connect the engine compartment fuel line fitting to the Fuel Rail and the vacuum line to the supercharger actuator valve as well as the supercharger bypass solenoid valve electrical connector . Reinstall the front section of the charge air cooler front manifold assembly using new o-ring seals after connecting the air inlet temperature 2 sensor electrical connector. Then place the sciap, baro, and map sensors with bracket onto their respective holder before connecting the vacuum lines and electrical connectors between the map and sciap sensors. The installation process requires reattaching the front supercharger inlet duct section followed by fuel fill pipe capping and charge air cooling system coolant filling until reaching the proper level. Afterward check for fuel system leaks before placing on the engine sight shield.
