2007 Chevrolet Corvette Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Expansion Valve in an air conditioning system on 2007 Chevrolet Corvette?
A: The first step to replace a thermal expansion valve (TXV) requires using a halogen leak detector (J 39400-A) to recover refrigerant from an air conditioning (A/C) system. First detach the rear Evaporator line assembly followed by removing the txv to Evaporator core mounting bolts before unconnecting the txv from the Evaporator and extracting it from the automobile. Sealing washers on the Evaporator core should get disposed while the core must remain covered by tape or the cap. After caps or tape are removed from the Evaporator core you should install fresh seal washers before connecting the txv to this core. Secure the txv to Evaporator core mounting bolts by torquing them to 7 n.m (62 lb in). The procedure for a/c system recharge follows repair of the rear Evaporator line assembly. Use the halogen leak detector (J 39400-A) to check for leaks on the component's fittings before completion.
