2008 Chevrolet Corvette A/C Expansion Valve Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Expansion Valve in an air conditioning system on 2008 Chevrolet Corvette?
A: A technician should start by recovering refrigerant from the air conditioning (A/C) system during replacement of the thermal expansion valve (TXV). The next step involves removing the rear Evaporator line assembly. The txv should be separated from the Evaporator by removing its mounting bolts first before disconnecting from the Evaporator core and removing it from the vehicle. You should eliminate both Evaporator core seal washers when performing this task. Alternatively you can tape off the Evaporator core. New seal washers need to be installed before removing the tape or cap that protects the Evaporator core. Install the txv to the Evaporator core by proceeding to secure the txv to Evaporator core mounting bolts to 7 n.m (62 lb in). The vehicle requires installation of the rear Evaporator line assembly along with an evacuation and recharge of the a/c system. The halogen leak detector (J 39400-A) should be utilized to perform a leak test on the component fittings.
