2008 Chevrolet Corvette A/C Hose Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the Rear A/C Hose on 2008 Chevrolet Corvette?
A: Recovering the refrigerant from the a/c system must be the first step before changing the air conditioning evaporator rear tube. First remove the battery and after that remove the Intake Manifold. Disassemble the front evaporator inlet line both by removing its body retaining clip and electrical connector of the refrigerant pressure sensor. Tape or cap all open a/c components to stop contamination before disconnecting the a/c tube connectors from the evaporator rear line assembly. The work begins by removing the o-rings from the front evaporator line and closing it with the front evaporator inlet line cap or tape. Disconnect the a/c compressor line from the evaporator rear line assembly while removing the o-rings along with capping or taping both the front evaporator line and a/c compressor line. You must initially remove the heater pipe bracket retaining nut from the cowl stud and then disconnect the evaporator rear line assembly from the txv and the retainer bracket stud while also removing the txv block fitting nut to ultimately take off the rear evaporator line assembly from the vehicle and discard the seal washers. Cap or tape the txv. You should put the specified amount of polyalkylene glycol (PAG) oil on the new evaporator rear line assembly directly before installation. You should install two new seal washers before connecting the evaporator rear line assembly to the retainer bracket stud and the txv while torquing the txv block fitting nut to 20 n.m (15 lb ft) and the heater pipe bracket retaining nut to 10 n.m (89 lb in). The technician should remove tape or caps from the front evaporator line and a/c compressor line while installing new o-rings to the rear evaporator line assembly before connecting the front and a/c compressor line to the evaporator rear line assembly. Spare parts consist of a/c tube connectors which need attachment to the evaporator rear line assembly followed by the refrigerant pressure sensor electrical connector and front evaporator inlet line toward body retaining clip. After installation of the Intake Manifold and battery you should perform a/c system evacuation and recharging followed by fitting leak tests according to j 39400-a.
