2007 Chevrolet Corvette Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Rear A/C Hose on 2007 Chevrolet Corvette?
A: Begin the rear evaporator tube replacement process by recovering all refrigerant from the a/c system then move on to remove the battery followed by the Intake Manifold. Disconnect the front evaporator inlet line from the body retaining clip as well as from the refrigerant pressure sensor electrical connector and the a/c tube connectors from the evaporator rear line assembly. The open a/c components need immediate capping and taping to stop contamination entrance. The operation of the front evaporator inlet line requires three actions. First you must disconnect the front evaporator inlet from the evaporator rear line assembly followed by removal of the o-rings. Lastly you must cap or tape the front evaporator inlet line. Disconnect the a/c compressor line from the evaporator rear line assembly then remove the o-rings and cap or tape both the front evaporator line and a/c compressor line. Before uninstalling the rear evaporator line assembly from the vehicle professionals must remove the heater pipe bracket retaining nut from the cowl stud, the thermal expansion valve (TXV) block fitting nut , disconnect the evaporator rear line assembly from the txv and the retainer bracket stud while discarding the seal washers. Cap or tape the txv . The specified amount of polyalkylene glycol (PAG) oil must directly enter the evaporator rear line assembly when replacing it. Install new seal washers to the evaporator rear line assembly before putting it back into the vehicle after removing the tape or cap from the txv. The txv demands installation of a new retaining nut while experiencing a torque setting of 20 n.m (15 lb ft) then the heater pipe bracket needs a retaining nut installation with a torque setting at 10 n.m (7 lb ft). After removing the cap or tape from the front evaporator line together with the a/c compressor line, install new o-rings to the rear evaporator line assembly, reattach the a/c compressor line with the front evaporator line to this assembly. The a/c tube connectors should be attached to the evaporator rear line assembly and the refrigerant pressure sensor electrical connector before fastening the front evaporator inlet line to the body retaining clip. After finishing reinstallation of the Intake Manifold and battery the technician performs a leak test of all fittings by using the halogen leak detector (J 39400-A).
