2007 Chevrolet Corvette Evaporator Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the evaporator core on 2007 Chevrolet Corvette?
A: Start by acquiring a halogen leak detector (J 39400-A) together with other required tools for the Evaporator core replacement. Start the replacement procedure by removing the hvac module and throwing away the hvac module assembly foam seal. Begin by removing thermal expansion valve (TXV) mounting bolts then extract the txv out from the Evaporator core. Throw away both sealing washers. The operator should disconnect both electrical connectors of the discharge temperature management (DTM) sensor before extracting the hvac module wiring harness retainer pin from the hvac module. The wiring harness needs to be moved by unfastening the Heater Core cover wire harness retainers then the harness itself. Begin the process by removing heater cover screws from the hvac module after extracting the heater cover then the Heater Core. The separation of upper case from lower case becomes possible through the unscrewed retaining screws on the hvac module case which allows the Evaporator core to be removed. The specified polyalkylene glycol (PAG) oil should be added to the new Evaporator core when the side seal faces the corners. Place the Evaporator core inside the hvac module after installing new upper and side and two lower seals on its surface. The hvac assembly requires upper and lower case reattachment after tightening retaining screws to 1.6 n.m (14 lb in). Begin by putting on the new Heater Core foam seal after which you should install the Heater Core followed by the heater cover screws using the same torque requirement. You should reattach the hvac wiring harness to Heater Core cover harness retainers with the hvac module wiring harness retainer pin and electrical connections to dtm sensor. New sealing washers are installed at the Evaporator core before the txv is reattached with mounting bolts that receive torque tightening to 7 n.m (62 lb in).
