2006 Chevrolet Corvette Evaporator Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the evaporator core on 2006 Chevrolet Corvette?
A: Prior to swapping the Evaporator core users must operate the halogen leak detector (J 39400-A) to examine for any presence of leaks. Start by taking off the hvac module along with discarding the hvac module assembly foam seal. Start by extracting the txv after unbolted thermal expansion valve (TXV) mounting bolts from the Evaporator core while discarding the sealing washers. The hvac module requires its discharge temperature management sensor electrical connectors to be detached then the hvac module wiring harness pin to be taken off from the hvac module's location. Disconnect the wire harness from both the Heater Core cover wire harness retainer and reposition it. Start core heater removal by unfastening the heater cover screws followed by removing the heater cover then the Heater Core from the hvac module. To reach the Evaporator core one must first remove hvac module case retaining screws before separating the upper case from the lower case. To install a new Evaporator core begin by adding the recommended polyalkylene glycol (PAG) oil directly to it and then proceed to add new side seal and upper seal and two lower seals while making sure to correctly position these components at their corners. Replace the Evaporator core in the hvac module and position the upper case on top of the hvac module before securing all retaining screws to 1.6 n.m (14 lb in). Insert a new foam seal to the Heater Core before placing the Heater Core and cover onto the hvac module where the secured screws also require a 1.6 n.m (14 lb in) torque. The hvac wiring harness should be reconnected to Heater Core cover wiring harness retainers followed by attaching the wiring harness retainer pin to the hvac module. The technician must connect dtm sensor electrical connectors then add welding washers to the Evaporator core next reattach the txv following bolt tightening of 7 n.m (62 lb in) before final installation of the hvac module.
