2007 Chevrolet Corvette Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Condenser in an A/C system on 2007 Chevrolet Corvette?
A: Before concluding installation check condenser fittings using the halogen leak detector (J 39400-A). Remove the refrigerant first followed by the upper radiator support removal. The a/c compressor hose assembly to A/C Condenser fitting bolt must be removed while immediately using caps or tape to seal the exposed a/c components against system contamination. After removing the A/C Condenser fitting seal washer disconnect the a/c compressor hose assembly toward the condenser while you use either a fitting cap or tape. Secure the vehicle in position before unscrewing the front evaporator inlet line bolt from the A/C Condenser while removing and capping this line. Discard the seal washer from both parts during this process. Remove the lh and rh radiator air baffle upper retainer pins when the vehicle is lowered. To obtain more clearance you should tilt the air baffle forward then carefully slide the A/C Condenser along the radiator until its tabs release from the slots before removing it from your vehicle. Before placing a new A/C Condenser into the vehicle add the recommended amount of pag oil directly to it then position the condenser and gently lower it to secure its tabs into the radiator slots. After removing tape or caps from the A/C Condenser inlet line connect it to the condenser using a new seal washer. Tighten front evaporator inlet line bolt to 16 n.m (12 lb ft). Use the following installation process: remove vehicle supports then remove the cap or tape from the a/c compressor hose assembly. Install a new seal washer on the hose and restore the hose to the A/C Condenser. Screw the a/c compressor hose assembly to A/C Condenser bolt while applying a torque of 16 n.m (12 lb ft), followed by reinstalling the upper radiator support. Conclusion involves both evacuating and recharging the a/c system.
