2008 Chevrolet Corvette Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Condenser in an A/C system on 2008 Chevrolet Corvette?
A: When replacing the condenser begin by conducting a leak test on the component fittings using a halogen leak detector (J 39400-A). Start by removing all refrigerant from the a/c system. Take out the upper radiator support first. Disassembly of the A/C Condenser fitting requires separating the compressor hose assembly by removing the bolt while immediately using caps or tape covers to protect open a/c components from contamination. Remove the front evaporator inlet line from the A/C Condenser and throw away the seal washer with proper line end protection. Begin by elevating the vehicle then uninstall the front evaporator inlet line bolt to disconnect it while throwing away the seal washer and placing a cap on the open end of the line. Lift the vehicle upright then eliminate the lh and rh radiator air baffle upper retainer pins from their position. Patiently move the air baffle forward to expand installation space before sliding the A/C Condenser up along the radiator until its tabs clear the slots and pull the condenser free of the vehicle. For new A/C Condenser installation please add pag oil according to specifications before attaching the condenser into its proper position inside the vehicle and securing its tabs into the radiator slots. After removing the caps or tape from the front evaporator inlet line connect it to the A/C Condenser while installing a new seal washer and tightening that bolt to 16 n.m (12 lb ft). Lower the vehicle and remove and reinstall the a/c compressor hose assembly together with its new seal washer while making bolt torque to 16 n.m (12 lb ft). As the last step install the upper radiator support and perform an a/c system evacuation and recharging process followed by a halogen leak detector j 39400-a test.
