• Q: How to replace the A/C Clutch assembly on 2007 Chevrolet Corvette?

  A: The air conditioning Drive Belt has to be removed before you detach the electrical connector from the a/c compressor coil assembly. First unscrew the air conditioning clutch's screw by using universal spanner wrench (J 37872) then discard it. Air gap shims must exist between the clutch driver and the splined shaft. Begin by detaching the clutch driver from the splined shaft before you remove and discard the pulley and bearing assembly retainer and pulley and bearing assembly which are found on the a/c compressor. First remove the coil assembly retainer and extract the coil assembly from its position in the a/c compressor. Use compressed air to blow debris away from the m6 x 1.0 tap cleaned splined shaft threads before cleansing the shaft and retainer grooves of debris. Position the coil assembly onto the a/c compressor while making sure the retainers are positioned correctly within the groove. Begin by installing the new coil assembly retainer before adding the pulley and bearing assembly onto the a/c compressor then add the new pulley and bearing assembly retainer. After adding clean pag oil to the shims for retention, maintain a 0.3-0.6 mm (0.011-0.024 in) air gap between the clutch driver and pulley through shim adjustments. Preinstall the clutch driver on its splined shaft before verification of the air gap reaches the permitted values. During pulley rotation check that the clutch driver does not touch or drag against the pulley. Use the universal spanner wrench (J 37872) to install a new air conditioning clutch screw while tightening it to 10 n.m (89 lb in). Then reinstall the air conditioning Drive Belt by reconnecting its electrical connector to the a/c compressor coil assembly.
