  • Q: How to service and repair the coolant reservoir, specifically for surge tank replacement using the GE-47716 tool on 2007 Chevrolet Equinox?
A: There is a need for GE-47716 (1617 Vac N Fill Coolant Refill Tool) to service and repair the coolant reservoir in particular to replace coolant reservoir. Drain out the engine coolant first, remove the coolant reservoir inlet hose clamp, and unplug the coolant reservoir inlet hose from the coolant reservoir. Next, unscrew the coolant reservoir bolts and raise the coolant reservoir to expose the heater outlet hose. Disassemble the heater outlet hose and clamp and remove it from the coolant reservoir and with it, take the coolant reservoir out of the vehicle. In doing the installation, there is need first to connect the heater outlet hose to the coolant reservoir, then place the coolant reservoir back into the vehicle. Set up the coolant reservoir bolts and tighten them to 9 N.m (80 lb in). Connect the coolant reservoir inlet hose with its clamp at the coolant reservoir inlet, and lastly, fill the engine coolant.
