  A: You need to empty the cooling system up to the bottom of the Water Pump before starting the replacement process. Turn off Water Pump Pulley bolt access while rotating the belt tensioner wheel tool (J 39914) to loosen Drive Belt stress. You can release the serpentine belt tensioner unloader (J 39914) carefully by letting the support spring relax on the Drive Belt tensioner. Then remove this component from its position on the Drive Belt tensioner. Take the bolts off the Water Pump Pulley and remove both pieces before unscrewing the Water Pump bolts and taking out the pump. Inspect the spaces where the pump meets the Water Pump wall and install the new gasket before installing the Water Pump. Lay the Water Pump Gasket first before putting in the Water Pump. Fasten the Water Pump bolts into position and tighten them to 10 n.m (89 pounds inch). After placing the Water Pump Pulley take steps to lightly attach its bolts. Move the belt to proper position on all pulleys except right idler pulley. Then use the serpentine belt tensioner unloader tool (J 39914) to push Drive Belt tensioner away from the Drive Belt. Put the Drive Belt on the right idler pulley then let the serpentine belt tensioner unloader (J 39914) slowly tighten the Drive Belt tensioner system. View the Drive Belt condition through the Drive Belt tensioner after removing part j 39914 to see if the Drive Belt is positioned right on each pulley (1-8). After installing the Drive Belt use the Water Pump Pulley bolts at 25 n.m (18 lb ft) to tighten them. Refill the cooling system and check for leaks.
