  A: Secure the Steering Wheel first to prevent rotation before you start with Rack And Pinion replacement because locking the Steering Column protects the sir system against damage. First remove front tire/wheel assemblies before removing and discarding the intermediate Steering Shaft bolt that attaches to the Rack And Pinion. Remove both Rack And Pinion outer tie rod end nuts from the vehicle before disconnecting the intermediate Steering Shaft from the Rack And Pinion. Dispose of the discarded nuts. Cable the steering linkage and tie rod puller (J 24319-B) to disconnect Rack And Pinion outer tie rod ends from steering knuckles before removing Rack And Pinion bolts and the transmission rear mount. The installation requires extraction of the Rack And Pinion by opening the left wheelhouse. Installation requires Rack And Pinion alignment through the left wheelhouse opening followed by bolt tightening to 110 n.m (81 lb ft).
