2007 Chevrolet Malibu Emblem Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the rear compartment lid emblem/nameplate on a sedan on 2007 Chevrolet Malibu?
A: Use tape to shield the car's surface and locate proper Emblem/Nameplate spots before replacement. Apply heat from a gun in circles for 30 seconds while remaining 152 millimeters (6 inches) away to minimize damage to the emblem. Use a plastic flat tool to slowly lift the emblem/nameplate from its position. Use 3M(TM) Scotch Brite molding adhesive remover disk 3M(TM) P/N 07501 on body panels while using either a lint-free cloth with VMP Naphtha or an isopropyl alcohol and water (50/50) solution on plastic panels. Apply the same cleaning material to wipe the installation area and let it achieve total dryness. The correct placement for the sedan emblem/nameplate requires setting it at 76 mm (3.02 in) from the left side of the rear compartment lid applique and 97.6 mm (5.83 in) below its bottom feature line. Choose 22 mm (0.88 in) above the coupes' applique, 38 mm (1.5 in) from the compartment edge, and 125 mm (5 in) from the deck lip if no marks are available. Set the surface to 27-41°C (80-105°F) and let the emblem/nameplate reach 29-32°C (85-90°F). After removing the protective liner do not touch the adhesive backing and place the emblem/nameplate onto the marked area by pressing it firmly on the surface. Push down evenly across all parts of the nameplate before removing the tape cover from its installation area.
