2008 Buick LaCrosse Brake Booster Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Power Vacuum Brake Booster (LY7) on 2008 Buick LaCrosse?
A: You should start by collecting the power Brake Booster holder part j 22805-b. Begin your repair process by detaching the black battery terminal. Take out the left instrument panel insulator and detach the brake apply sensor (BAS) to remove its Brake Booster pushrod connection from the brake pedal by unlocking the retaining clip. You need to take out the exhaust crossover pipe and detach the electrical connector from the brake fluid sensor. After you remove the bpmv bracket fasteners disconnect the master cylinder from the vacuum Brake Booster without touching the brake hydraulic pipes. First detach the vacuum Brake Booster check valve and then empty the cooling system before uninstalling the coolant heater tubes. Secure the power Brake Booster holder (J 22805-B) onto the booster through its master cylinder nuts. Then release the booster from its front position on the cowl and take out the vacuum Brake Booster. Position the new vacuum Brake Booster over the cowl where its locking tab and flanges fit properly. Use a ratchet connected to power Brake Booster holder (J 22805-B) to rotate the booster clockwise until it locks securely in position. Reconnect the vacuum hose and check valve assembly while placing the master cylinder in position against the booster. Then tighten retaining nuts to 33 n.m (24 lb ft). Put back the bpmv bracket hardware and put the Brake Fluid Level Sensor plug in place before fitting the exhaust crossover pipe. Put brake fluid inside the cooling system before linking the Brake Booster pushrod to the brake pedal then adding the bpmv unit in its bracket. Reinstall the instrument panel shield from the left side while reattaching the vehicle battery.
