How to replace the rear brake line on 2008 Buick LaCrosse?

Before you start work you should lift and prop up the vehicle safely. First disconnect the rear tire and wheel before you clean all foreign matter from brake hoses and the brake pipe connection point. Cover the brake pipe connection point by placing a rubber seal to stop brake fluid leakage and external contamination. Keep the brake pipe flat as you disconnect the brake hose using a back up tool while plugging or capping the hose end. Take off the hose retaining clip from its mount by pulling it from the bracket before extracting the hose from the bracket. To access the brake caliper separate the brake hose from it by first removing its bolt then disconnecting the hose from the caliper. Get rid of both stuck copper brake hose gaskets after removing them from the brake caliper or brake hose end. Put the new brake hose in place following the proper position for vehicle installation and always use new copper brake hose gaskets. Fit new gaskets to the brake hose assembly followed by connecting brake hose bolt to the brake caliper butt end and tightening it to 40 lb.ft at 54 n.m while keeping the hose in an upward position during installation. Place the brake hose into the bracket with vehicle weight on suspension and align its fitting notch while following the hose paint stripe to position the end correctly. Place the retainer on the hose fitting at its bracket connection then take off the rubber cover from the end of the brake pipe. Secure the brake pipe fitting onto the brake hose with a back up wrench on the fitting while making sure both parts stay straight during assembly and tightening it to 18 n.m (13 lb ft). Put back the rear tire and wheel together but double-check that the hose keeps away from suspension parts; replace the hose if it touches these parts. Finish this work by draining the brake system fluids and lowering the car.
