- Q: How to replace the front brake line on 2008 Buick LaCrosse?A: You should start by elevating and supporting the vehicle properly before proceeding with front brake hose replacement. Clean away all dirt and foreign materials from brake hoses and brake pipe fittings by removing the front tire and wheel assembly. Insert a rubber stopper to the opening of the brake pipe fitting to keep brake fluid inside while protecting it from contamination. A back up wrench where the fittings meet will disconnect the brake hose from the brake pipe fitting and themike after plugging the pipe without deforming the bracket or brake pipe. Break the retaining clip off of the mounting bracket on the brake hose before pulling the hose out of its compartment. Detach the brake hose to caliper bolt from the brake caliper before disconnecting the brake hose from the brake caliper. Two copper brake hose gaskets should be discarded after separating from the brake caliper or brake hose end. The installation requires brand new copper brake hose gaskets which you should install alongside the brake hose bolt on the brake hose. Secure the brake hose to caliper bolt on the brake caliper while tightening it to 54 n.m (40 lb ft). After mounting the weight of the vehicle on the suspension, position the brake hose into the bracket while avoiding bends and matching up the hose fitment with the bracket notch by using the hose paint stripe as orientation. Route the retaining hardware around the hose connection at the bracket before pulling off the rubber seal that covers the remaining brake pipe opening. Insert and connect the brake pipe fitting to the brake hose through a back up wrench applied to the hose fitting before tightening the fitting to 18 n.m (13 lb ft) while ensuring the bracket and pipe remain straight. Security-wise, attach the front tire and wheel assembly but also verify that the hose avoids making contact with any suspension component during intense turning motions. Bleed the hydraulic system then repair or replace the hose as necessary. Bleeding must occur for the hydraulic brake system followed by lowering the vehicle.
