- Q: How to replace the ABS Control Module on 2008 Buick LaCrosse?A: First ensure that the ignition switch faces off before beginning Brake Pressure Modulator Valve (BPMV) replacement work. Pull the lock tab from the electronic brake control module (EBCM) harness connector and detach the connector from its port. Write down the positions of brake pipes before storing them for installation. First disconnect the wheel cylinder brake pipes from the BPMV followed by the master cylinder brake pipes detachment from the BPMV. The replacement process of the BPMV starts when removing its two brackets while being cautious about brake fluid that could harm painted surfaces. Extract the combination of BPMV and EBCM as an assembly from the automobile. The replacement process requires removal of EBCM only when replacing the BPMV. To replace the BPMV during installation you should install the EBCM before any other part. The BPMV and EBCM as an assembly should be installed into the BPMV bracket with the flat studs on the BPMV perfectly aligned with the bracket surface. Fasten the two BPMV to BPMV bracket nuts until they reach 12 N.m (8 lb ft) torque. Proper connection of brake pipes to the BPMV avoids wheel lockup events that result in personal injury; this condition can be detected through a Scan Tool antilock stop process. Before installing the new BPMV one must remove shipping plugs from its valve openings. Tighten all brake pipe fittings at 15 N.m (11 lb ft) during installation of both master cylinder brake pipes and wheel cylinder brake pipes to the BPMV. The EBCM harness connector needs to be connected followed by a lock tab push in. Then perform hydraulic brake systematic filling and bleeding. The last step involves starting the RUN mode after engine shutdown to execute the Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle test.
