2008 Buick Lucerne Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the front brake line on 2008 Buick Lucerne?
A: Before replacing the front brake hose you need to lift and stabilize the vehicle before taking off the tire and wheel assembly. Before starting the replacement clean all dirt and foreign particles from brake pipe fittings then put a rubber plug on the exposed brake pipe end to shield against fluid loss and dirt contamination. Work to remove the brake pipe fitting from the brake hose by using a flat-bladed tool to detach the brake hose retainer. Then take out the brake hose from its bracket. Pull off the brake caliper bolt from the brake caliper then remove the brake hose itself while discarding any stuck copper brake hose gaskets found on either brake caliper or brake hose end. Insert a rubber stopper through the brake hose bolt hole of the brake caliper to avoid brake fluid losses. Unscrew the strut assembly bolt to remove the bracket and take out the hose. Before installation place a new rubber stopper into the brake hose bolt hole and only use new copper brake hose gaskets. Set the brake hose bolt and new gaskets together before fitting them onto the brake caliper. Tighten the bolt at 40 n.m (30 lb ft). Connect the brake hose by placing it onto the bracket without bends or twists before attaching the brake hose retainer. Place the brake pipe fitting at the free end of its rubber cap before hand-tightening to 15 n.m (11 lb ft). Secure the hose bracket back to the strut using the mount and fasten it with 17 n.m torque. To complete the task you need to bleed the braking system at the bleeder screw and add the tire and wheel components before lowering the vehicle to the ground.
