2009 Buick Lucerne Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the front brake line on 2009 Buick Lucerne?
A: Before starting work raise and stabilize the vehicle and take off the tire and wheel parts. Wipe all dirt from brake hose and brake pipe parts before applying a rubber stopper over the uncovered brake pipe end to keep fluid from leaking. Use a flat-bladed tool to detach the brake hose retainer before you pull the brake pipe fitting out from the brake hose. Take out the brake hose from its bracket and brake caliper before discarding the two copper brake hose gaskets since they tend to adhere to the hose or brake caliper. Insert a rubber plug into the caliper bolt hole to stop fluid loss before removing the hose bracket bolt from the strut assembly. Install new copper brake hose gaskets into the caliper bolt hole by removing the rubber plug. Install the new brake hose bolt with the fitted gaskets onto the brake caliper and tighten it to 40 nm (30 lb ft). Also make sure the hose remains straight and unfurled during installation. Firmly join the brake hose to its bracket and fasten the retainer before taking off the rubber cap from the brake pipe. Fit the brake pipe to the hose while applying 18 nm (13 lb ft) torque before adding the hose bracket and strut assembly bolt which needs 17 nm (13 lb ft) torque. After bleeding the brake caliper you can install the tire and wheel set before lowering the vehicle.
