2010 Buick Lucerne Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the rear brake line on 2010 Buick Lucerne?
A: To install the new brake hose start by lifting the vehicle above ground before you disassemble the wheel and tire setup. Clean off all dirt from both brake hose and brake pipe contacts before putting a rubber seal or plug on the open end of the pipe to stop fluid from leaking. Take the brake pipe fitting off the brake hose, then loosen the brake hose with a flat tool. Take off the brake hose from its bracket and from the brake caliper while discarding both copper brake hose gaskets since they stick to these parts. Insert a suitable stopper into the caliper bolt hole to keep fluid from leaking out. First undo the rubber plug on the caliper bolt hole and put new copper brake hose gaskets into place. Install the brake hose bolt with new gaskets and connect it to the caliper by tightening it to 40 nm (30 lb ft) while keeping the hose straight and free of twists. Push the brake hose onto the bracket and install the brake hose retainer again. Join the brake pipe fitting and brake hose with the rubber cap removed. Tighten this junction to 18 nm (13 lb ft). Do not drive the vehicle without achieving a solid brake pedal because air leaks in the system create real brake failure dangers. Press the brake bleeder valve open and put on the tire while letting the brake system bleed.
