How to replace the Shift Cable for a console shift on 2008 Buick Lucerne?

Before replacing the shift cable for a console shift you must activate the park brake while chocking down the wheels. The shift cable retainer should be removed before disconnecting the terminal from the transmission manual shift lever pin. The locking tabs need to be pressed in to let the transmission shift cable free itself from the bracket after which the console trim plate should be taken out. First detach the transmission shift cable terminal from the shift control pin after which you can remove the transmission shift cable from the shift control base. Remove the shift cable by unplugging its grommet at the cowl panel before extracting it from the vehicle. You should put the shift cable into the cowl panel before seating the grommet while attaching the transmission shift cable to the shift control base and connecting the terminal to the shift control pin. The console trim plate goes back in place while you guide the transmission shift cable into its bracket and join the terminal to the transmission manual shift lever pin. Finish up the process by fastening the retainer of the shift cable and making adjustments to the automatic transmission selector cable.
