- Q: What tools are required to replace the camshaft on the right side (LY7) VIN 7 without direct fuel injection on 2008 Cadillac CTS?A: Replacement of the right side Camshaft (LY7) vin 7 without direct fuel injection needs en-48313 Timing Chain retention tool (EN-48313) as well as other tools listed below. You must first detach both upper and lower intake manifolds in sequence. First unfasten the components which include the Camshaft cover and Camshaft sensors as well as the intake Camshaft position actuator solenoid. The crankshaft balancer should rotate in clockwise motion only while a sequence of crankshaft turns aligns the camshafts in a no-torque state with both flat surfaces facing the Camshaft cover rail. The technicians must rotate the camshafts towards one another which creates room for slacking in the chain and allows proper marking of both the Timing Chain and Camshaft position actuators for future assembly. Divide the Camshaft position actuator bolt first before you extricate the Camshaft bearing caps together with the Camshaft. Installation requires the positioning of marks between the Camshaft position actuators and Timing Chain followed by assembly of Camshaft actuators onto camshafts before camshafts and bearing caps get installed. Prevent rotation of en-48313 by installing an open-end wrench before you install and tighten the Camshaft position actuators. The installation process ends with the intake Camshaft position actuator solenoid after which you should add the Camshaft sensors along with the Camshaft cover before reassembling the upper and lower intake manifolds.
