  A: The first step to replace the Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve is the removal of any necessary fuel injector sight shield. The EGR valve requires disconnecting its engine harness electrical connector before removing the nuts securing the bracket shield and both components. You must first remove the EGR bolts combined with the EGR valve while discarding the used gasket. It is important to check and clean EGR passages inside the water pump housing and its deposits if present. Prepare the EGR valve mounting area after installing a NEW EGR gasket as well as the EGR valve. Mount the EGR valve bolts before tightening them to 24 N.m and secure the EGR bracket shield nuts to 10 N.m. Reinstall the engine harness electrical connector to the EGR valve then put back the fuel injector sight shield which was taken off.
