- Q: How to replace the negative battery cable on 2008 Cadillac Escalade ESV?A: In order to remove the negative Battery Cable, we must fist remove negative Battery Cable out first and remove the air cleaner outlet duct. Remove the engine harness electrical connector from the battery current sensor and pull the battery current sensor clip from the battery tray if there is one. Subsequently disconnect studding negative Battery Cable stud & terminal from the front of the right cylinder head, the negative Battery Cable terminal from the cylinder head. Raise and support vehicle, then remove the for- ward lamp wiring harness ground bolt and the for- ward lamp wiring harness terminal from the frame. Pull the terminal of the negative Battery Cable out through the hole between the radiator support and frame, and remove the negative Battery Cable clip from the chassis harness. Lower the vehicle and remove the negative Battery Cable clip from the right wheelhouse liner . If not equipped with a battery current sensor, disconnect the negative Battery Cable on the vehicle; if supplied with a battery current sensor, disengage the negative Battery Cable as well. For changing the negative cable of the battery, take out the battery current sensor, if one is available. For installation, do not dispose of the original battery current sensor if it's mounted if equipped. If a negative Battery Cable was replaced, install the battery current sensor if it's mounted. Connect the negative Battery Cable to the vehicle with the close of mass engine in the terminal behind the negative battery terminal away from the positioning of the negative cable batter terminal to the cylinder head. Mount the negative Battery Cable stud to the front of the right cylinder head, and bolt it to 25 n.m (18 lb ft). Put on the negative Battery Cable clip to the right wheelhouse liner and lift the vehicle, then put the negative Battery Cable clip to the chassis harness. Route the negative Battery Cable terminal through the hole on you radiator support and frame so that it rests on the side of you forward lamp harness. Mount the forward lamp wiring harness terminal to the frame, ensuring the anti rotation tab is locked into the mounting hole in the frame, and then apply the forward lamp wiring harness ground bolt tightening to 25 n.m (18 lb ft) in size. Lower the vehicle, install the battery current sensor clip to the battery tray if equipped, connect the engine harness electrical connector to the battery current sensor, install the air cleaner outlet duct, and finally connect the negative Battery Cable.
