Positive Cable

The battery positive cable replacement process starts with disconnecting the negative battery cable before removing the under hood junction block cover. Delocate the junction block retainers from their locked positioning and open the retainers before taking off the junction block. First remove the mega fuse cover and then disconnect the positive battery cable connector from the underhood bussed electrical center (UBEC). Disconnect the jumper cable to mega fuse nut followed by the generator battery jumper cable terminal from the mega fuse stud. The first step for removal starts with the detachment of positive battery cable channel and clips from plenum front panel studs then moving to remove positive battery cable terminal from mega fuse stud before removing the positive battery cable from the vehicle. When installing the max fuse procedure starts with inserting the positive battery cable and connecting its terminal to the mega fuse stud. First reinstall the positive battery cable channel with its clips on the plenum front panel and then connect the generator battery jumper cable terminal to the mega fuse stud using the generator battery jumper cable to secure it to mega fuse nut with 9 N.m (80 lb in) torque. Reattach both the positive battery cable connector to its place on the UBEC and install the mega fuse cover. Turn the junction block retainers to the open position after which align the junction block to fit the 4 bracket pivots . Lock the pivots by pushing the retainer down to its locked position. Install the under hood junction block cover followed by restoring connection to the negative battery cable.

The replacement of positive battery cable requires disconnection of the negative cable followed by removal of the under hood junction block cover. Remove the junction block retainers which are currently locked and move them into an open position before you reposition the junction block properly. Detach the positive battery cable connector at the underhood bussed electrical center (UBEC) then remove the mega fuse cover. Remove the generator battery jumper cable to mega fuse nut and its terminal from the mega fuse stud. The first step removes the positive battery cable channel along with its clips from plenum front panel studs followed by disconnecting the positive battery cable terminal from the mega fuse stud. Begin the installation procedure by mounting the positive battery cable to the vehicle before joining its terminal to the mega fuse stud. Reconnect the positive battery cable channel and clips to the plenum front panel before joining the generator battery jumper cable terminal to the mega fuse stud followed by generator battery jumper cable into mega fuse nut where tightening the corresponding nuts reaches 9 N.m (80 lb in). The installation sequence requires return of both the mega fuse cover along with the positive battery cable connector to attach with the UBEC. After opening the junction block retainers position them to align with the 4 bracket pivots, insert the pivots and lower the retainer into its locked position. Proceed with the installation of the under hood junction block cover before finishing with the negative battery cable reconnection.

The first step to replace a 4.3l battery positive cable starts by disconnecting the negative Battery Cable followed by removing the under hood junction block cover. Remove the junction block retainers from their locked position while you rotate them into the open position and subsequently take away the junction block. First remove the positive Battery Cable connector from the underhood bussed electrical center (UBEC) before taking out the mega Fuse cover. The initial step involves removing the starter solenoid cable nut from the mega Fuse while subsequent work requires unconnecting the starter solenoid cable terminal from the mega Fuse stud. Proceed by taking off the positive Battery Cable channel and its clips from the plenum front panel studs after removing the positive Battery Cable terminal from the mega Fuse stud before extracting the cable from the vehicle. Installation begins with replacing the positive Battery Cable inside the vehicle followed by attaching its terminal to the mega fusse stud then reinstalling the positive Battery Cable channel with clips on the plenum front panel. Apply the starter solenoid cable terminal to the mega Fuse stud while securing it with the starter solenoid cable nut at 9 n.m (80 lb in). After replacing the mega Fuse cover attach the positive Battery Cable connector to its respective ubec port. The open position on junction block retainers should be followed by proper junction block alignment to the 4 bracket pivots before engaging pivots and executing the locked position with the retainer cover. The procedure ends with installing the under hood junction block cover along with negative Battery Cable attachment.

To turn the negative Battery Cable, first make sure all lamps and accessories are off, and then press the ignition off without stopping at accessory and take out the vehicle's ignition key. Wait for at least 1 minute for necessary power-down procedures by some vehicle systems before moving on. Next, move the negative Battery Cable insulating cover from the negative battery terminal and turn the lever lock counterclockwise to disconnect the negative Battery Cable from the battery. For connection, clean away any existing corrosion on the battery terminal and the Battery Cable before installation of the negative cable to the battery. Rotate the lever lock clockwise until an audible click is heard to connect and then, place the negative Battery Cable insulating cover on the negative terminal.

Disconnect the positive battery cable.

Remove the under hood junction block cover.

Ensure the engine harness terminal is positioned behind the negative battery terminal before positioning the negative battery cable terminal to the cylinder head.

Install the negative battery cable clip to the right wheelhouse liner, raise the vehicle, and install the negative battery cable clip to the chassis harness.

Lift the junction block retainers from the locked position and rotate them to the open position, then remove the junction block.

Detach the clip from the air cleaner support bracket and the clip from the fender inner panel.

Reattach the starter solenoid cable terminal to the mega fuse stud and secure the starter solenoid cable nut to the mega fuse, tightening it to 9 Nm (80 lb in).

Connect the positive battery cable connector to the underhood BEC, then install and tighten the positive battery cable nuts to 9 Nm (80 lb in).

Close the auxiliary battery positive cable post cover, install the underhood junction block cover, and reconnect the auxiliary battery.

Install the forward lamp wiring harness terminal, ensuring the anti-rotation tab is inserted into the hole in the frame.

Position the oil pan skid plate and install the bolts if equipped, tightening them to 28 N.m (21 lb ft).

Position the negative battery cable to the battery.

Lower the vehicle, position the engine wiring harness ground lead behind the negative battery cable lead, and place both leads against the engine block boss.

Attach the positive battery cable to the vehicle and connect the electrical connector to the drive motor generator control module.

Raise and suitably support the vehicle, then remove the engine wiring harness ground lead bolt from the frame and take out the engine wiring harness ground lead and the negative battery cable lead from the frame.

Install the battery current sensor, then install the negative battery cable to the vehicle, followed by the negative battery cable clip to the right wheelhouse liner.
