• Q: What tools are required to service and repair the Rocker Shaft Spring Kit and Valve Stem Oil Seal on the left side on 2008 Cadillac SRX?

  A: Laborers need specialized tools such as en 46106 flywheel holding tool for valve guide seal repair of the valve stem oil seal and valve spring on the left side. They must have en 46110 valve spring compressor, en 46116 flush tool, en 46117 key remover, and j 39313 Spark Plug port adapter. To start the repair put in the en 46106 first to prevent crankshaft rotation. Failure to do so can damage the Camshaft timing system. Start by taking off the camshafts and rocker arms and then disconnect the Spark Plug from the targeted cylinder. Fasten the j 39313 to the cylinder and link it with a supply of pressurized air. Push the en 46110 over the cylinder and tighten its nut while controlling the strong pressure of the compressed valve springs. Apply the en 46117 tool to take out valve keepers before easing the en 46110 nut to take off the valve spring retainer and spring. The en 46116 removes the valve stem seal while the tool also installs a fresh seal into place. Push the valve spring into place while making sure valve keepers slot into their position in the en 46117 tool. Replace both plugs and put back the rocker arms and camshafts by disconnecting j 39313 and taking off en 46110. Finish by putting back the Starter motor component en 46106.
