2008 Cadillac SRX Camshaft Parts and Q&A
Q: How to replace the left side camshaft on 2008 Cadillac SRX?
A: To replace left side Camshaft to bring all the tools;68332. En-48313 Timing Chain retention tool (EN-48313). Start by removing the upper Intake Manifold and also the lower Intake Manifold. Next up is to remove the left bank Camshaft cover and the Camshaft sensors they include the Camshaft Position Sensor replacement - bank 2 (Left Side) exhaust, as well as the Camshaft Position Sensor replacement - bank 2 (Left Side) intake. It would also be a wise choice to remove the Camshaft position actuator solenoid. It rotates the crank shaft balancer in a clockwise manner only using the crank shaft balancer bolt so as to align the camshafts in a neutral position in order to align the cam shaft flats with the cam shaft cover rail. Loosen the Camshaft position actuator bolt using an open-end wrench at the hex of the Camshaft so that it does not rotate. Remove the en-48313 by unscrewing it and extend its legs, then place it between the Camshaft actors, with the scribed line resting right next to the upper surface of the cylinder head. Make sure the feet of this tool are in the front of the engine as well as expanding the legs partially and turning t-shaped handle in clockwise direction putting one leg behind the Timing Chain Guide. Put on pressure gradually until the legs touch the Timing Chain without further tightening it. Hand tighten the tool and turn the camshafts towards each other to loose the slack in the chain. Mark the Timing Chain and Camshaft position actuators for proper assembly, and then remove the Camshaft position actuator bolt and camshafts once the en-48313 is properly installed. Install by lining up the marks on the Camshaft position actuator, and Timing Chain and then mating camshafts actuators to the Camshaft and installing along with the Camshaft bearing caps. After determining the safety of the manual transaxle, lift and remove the en-48313, using an open-end wrench to avoid rotation, and install along with tightening the Camshaft position actuators. Finally, install the intake Camshaft position actuator solenoid, Camshaft sensors, Camshaft cover, and upper Intake Manifold with the lower Intake Manifold.
