  A: The first step to replace an ly7 generator requires you to disconnect the vehicle's battery negative cable. Take the Drive Belt off from the generator. Begin by lifting the car then removing the power connection from the generator. Remove the protective boot from the generator output bat terminal to gain access and then take out the generator output bat terminal nut before disconnecting the battery positive lead. Maintain engine access by first lowering the vehicle while removing generator lower bolts. Continue with generator upper bolt removal before extracting the generator from its position. Position the generator on the engine and fasten it with the upper bolt for installation. After supporting the vehicle in its elevated position install the generator lower bolts by applying 50 n.m of torque (37 lb ft). Tighten the generator bat terminal nut to 13 n.m (115 lb in) and place the terminal boot in position after connecting the battery positive lead to the generator bat terminal. To install the generator you must connect the electrical connector followed by lowering the vehicle and positioning the Drive Belt on generator before reconnecting the battery negative cable.
