How to replace the LH Differential Cover and seal on 2008 Cadillac STS?

In order to replace the Differential carrier cover and seal on the left, firstly remove the rear Differential. Then, remove the 9 carrier cover bolts. Detach the carrier cover (4, 5, 7) from the Differential carrier (7) and pry the o-ring seal (8) off of cover (see figure 1). For installation, fit the housing cover o-ring into groove on the housing cover and apply a light finish of oil on it before you fit the housing cover onto the housing. Ensure to tighten the 9 side cover bolts in a criss-cross pattern to 29 n.m (21 lb ft). Finally, reinstall the rear Differential.
