• Q: How to replace the ignition coil for Bank 2 (LP1, LY7) on 2008 Cadillac STS?

  A: Before replacing bank 2 (LP1, LY7) Ignition Coil you must turn off the ignition and then remove the engine cover without touching the fuel pipes or hoses. When replacing the cylinder 2 Ignition Coil, remove the Intake Manifold by disconnecting the air cleaner duct from the Throttle Body and the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) hose from the right bank camshaft cover while keeping both manifold pieces in place. The next step requires removal of Intake Manifold bolts together with Intake Manifold brace bolts (1 and 2) along with brace removal before repositioning upper Intake Manifold with lower Intake Manifold for adequate Ignition Coil removal clearance. First disconnect Ignition Coil electrical connectors then detach Ignition Coil bolts followed by removing the ignition coils from the engine. Set the Ignition Coil(s) in position while following the fastener notice and install the Ignition Coil bolt(s) until you reach 10 n.m (89 lb in) torque. Screw back the Ignition Coil electrical connector(s) afterward you may need to install the upper Intake Manifold.
