Ignition Coil

Remove the negative Battery Cable before replacing the Ignition Coil. Next, take off the intake manifold cover and detach the Spark Plug Wires from the coil of the ignition being worked on. Unscrew the Ignition Control Module and remove the Ignition Coil. For installation, attach the new Ignition Coil on the Ignition Control Module and do not forget to follow the notice of fastener. Fit the Ignition Coil bolts and torque them to 4.5 n.m (40 lb in). Reconnect the Spark Plug Wires to the Ignition Coil, fit the intake manifold cover and connect the negative cable to the battery.

In order to remove ignition coil for Bank 1, one will first take off the sight shields of both fuel injectors. When servicing ignition coil assembly the engine harness electrical connector should be disconnected from the ignition coil assembly and then fuel injector sight shield studs and ignition coil assembly bolts ought to be removed before removing the ignition coil assembly. In case of individual ignition coil replacement, the individual ignition coil electrical connector may be disconnected , individual ignition coil bolt removed then the individual ignition coil is ejected out. For Installation, should service the ignition coil assembly, install the ignition coil assembly and tighten the bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in). Then, attach the fuel injector sight shield studs, which are also torqued to 10 N.m (89 lb in) and reattach the engine harness electrical connect to the ignition coil assembly. If replacing an individual ignition coil, replace the ignition coil and install with the individual ignition coil bolt topped to 10 N.m (89 lb in) then the individual ignition coil electrical connector is then connected. Lastly, re-install the sight shields on the fuel injectors.

Begin the Ignition Coil replacement for bank 2 by turning off the ignition then take off the engine cover without disconnecting fuel pipes or hoses. Before replacing the cylinder 2 Ignition Coil you need to remove and reposition the Intake Manifold through the process of disconnecting the air cleaner duct from the Throttle Body and the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) hose from the right bank camshaft cover. Keep the upper Intake Manifold connected to the lower Intake Manifold. Start by removing all Intake Manifold bolts and both Intake Manifold brace bolts (Number 1 and 2) before removing the brace itself. Reposition the upper and lower intake manifolds to create enough space for Ignition Coil extraction. The process begins by disconnecting Ignition Coil electrical connectors while removing Ignition Coil bolts to extract the ignition coils. Finish installation by repositioning the Ignition Coil(s) within the proper orientation according to the fastener notice before securing the Ignition Coil bolt(s) with a torque setting of 10 n.m (89 lb in). Reconnect all electrical connectors to the Ignition Coil before (optionally) reinstalling the upper Intake Manifold.

To replace the ignition coil for Bank 1, the fuel injector sight shield needs to be removed. Separate the ignition coil wiring harness electric connection from the coil that is to be replaced, detach the ignition coil retention bolt, and pull out the ignition coil. During the replacement of the new ignition coil, replace the new ignition coil, make sure that the seal from the spark plug is in position. Mount the ignition coil and then the ignition coil holding bolt and tighten it to 10 N.m (89 lb in). Reconnect ignition coil electrical connector and install the fuel injector sight shield.

Ensure that the spark plug seals are in place.

Install the ignition coil bolts, tightening them to 4.5 N.m (40 lb in).

Remove the ignition coil electrical connector(s), ignition coil bolt(s), and the ignition coil(s).

Remove the ignition coil bolts/nuts and the ignition coil itself.

Install the ignition coil and the individual ignition coil bolt, tightening it to 10 Nm (89 lb in), then connect the individual ignition coil electrical connector.

Remove both fuel injector sight shields.

Install the ignition coil assembly and its bolts, tightening them to 10 N.m (89 lb in). Connect the engine harness electrical connector to the ignition coil assembly.

Disconnect the individual ignition coil electrical connector and remove the individual ignition coil bolt to take out the ignition coil.

Disconnect the ignition coil electrical connector(s), remove the ignition coil bolt(s), and take out the ignition coil(s).

Replace the engine cover.

Place the ignition coil(s) back in, install the ignition coil bolt(s) and tighten them to 10 Nm (89 lb in), then reconnect the ignition coil electrical connector(s).

Place the ignition coil(s) back in, ensuring to tighten the ignition coil bolt(s) to 10 N.m (89 lb in), then reconnect the ignition coil electrical connector(s).

Ensure that the spark plug seal is in place.

Disconnect the ignition coil electrical connector(s), remove the ignition coil bolt(s), and take out the ignition coil(s).

Disconnect the air cleaner duct from the throttle body and the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) hose from the right bank camshaft cover, ensuring not to separate the upper intake manifold from the lower intake manifold.
