To change the Spark Plug Wires, start by removing the intake manifold cover. Next, remove the front Spark Plug Wires from the ignition coils, then rear Spark Plug Wires. For the front Spark Plug Wires, make note of their positions before removal and twist the spark plug boot 1/2 turn and gently pry heat shield up from spark plugs with a spark plug boot removal tool (K J 38491) and remove the wires. Then remove the spark plug harness from the retainer and remove the air inlet grille. Repeat the steps for the rear Spark Plug Wires making sure that their positions are marked, twist the boots and use the spark plug boot removal tool (J 38491) while using the tool to pry the heat shield away before pulling out. Last, pull the spark plug retainers from the rear lift bracket and Fuel Rail. For installation, security would start with the placement of the Spark Plug Wires to the spark plugs back of the engine alternatively the retainers for the plug are to the back lift bracket and after this adjust the Fuel Rail. We then reinstall the air inlet grille, attach the Spark Plug Wires to the spark plugs that are in the front of the engine, attach the spark plug harness to the retainer, and connect the rear Spark Plug Wires and front Spark Plug Wires to the ignition coils. Reinstall the intake manifold cover at the end.

You need to turn off ignition first before removing the fuel injector sight shield. Gently free the heat shield from the spark plugs using the j 38491 (Spark Plug Heat Shield Removal Tool). Remove Spark Plug wires (2,4,6) from the spark plugs at the engine's rear end. Before their removal record the wire positions and rotate each boot by 1/2 turn before pulling them out. Use the j 38491 tool to remove the right engine mount strut lower bracket then follow the same wire removal process for Spark Plug wires (1,3,5) at the engine front keeping track of wire positions throughout the operation. Use a screwdriver to detach Spark Plug wires from ignition coils and Spark Plug wire retaining clips from all engine areas at the rear, front and top. Every essential component from the removed old Spark Plug wires should be transitioned to the new wires before removal. New Spark Plug wires should be installed onto the engine with retaining clips put in place before conducting the wire-hookup sequence by starting with (1,3,5) at the front positions followed by (2,4,6) at the rear. The right engine mount strut lower bracket together with the fuel injector sight shield need to be properly reinstalled.

Start by turning off the ignition and taking off the fuel injector sight shield as the first step in Spark Plug wire replacement. Start by disconnecting Spark Plug Wires labeled (2, 4, 6) from their corresponding spark plugs at the engine's back while making a note of their original positions. Use j 38491 Spark Plug boot removal tool to twist each Spark Plug boot 1/2 turn before removal before prying the heat shield gently up from the spark plugs. Repeat this Spark Plug wire removal procedure for the wires (1, 3, 5) positioned at the engine's front end. Note down the same wire positions and deploy the Spark Plug boot removal tool (J 38491) for this step. Pluck out the ignition wires from their coils while also pulling out each retaining clip that reaches from the Ignition Coil to the engine's rear, front, and top points. Moving on to new Spark Plug wire installations only transfer boot heat shields with all Spark Plug wire retaining clips and conduit pieces. Follow these steps when adding new Spark Plug Wires to the engine: start installation with (1, 3, 5) at the front then move to (2, 4, 6) at the rear. After completing connections between ignition coils and spark plugs, replace the retaining clips. Reassemble first by connecting wires to spark plugs at the front then finish by connecting wires to spark plugs at the rear. The last step involves placing back the fuel injector sight shield.

Offset repairing or servicing the Spark Plug wires you must make sure the Ignition Switch stands in an off position. Start by taking out the fuel injector sight shield. Start by marking the positions of wires (2,4,6) leading to the rear spark plugs before using the j38491 Spark Plug heat shield removal tool to gently lift the heat shield. The wire boots can be released from the spark plugs by twisting them 1/2 turn counterclockwise. The same procedure should be followed for the Spark Plug wires at the engine front where they position numbers 1, 3 and 5. The next step involves pulling Spark Plug wires from ignition coils and extracting retaining clips from engine points at the rear, front and top. During Spark Plug wire replacement move all elements including boot heat shields and Spark Plug wire conduit and retaining clips. Begin installation by directing Spark Plug wire(s) to the proper engine locations then install retaining clips before connecting wires to ignition coils and finally position wires (1,3,5) to front spark plugs while wires (2,4,6) lead to rear spark plugs. Reinstall the fuel injector sight shield.

J 38491 (Spark Plug Boot Removal Tool).

Note their positions, twist the spark plug boot 1/2 turn to release it, and gently pry the heat shield up using the Spark Plug Heat Shield Removal Tool (J 38491) before removing the wires.

Each boot must be checked for tearing, piercing, arcing, carbon tracking, and corroded terminals.

Twist the spark plug boot one-half turn and pull only on the boot to avoid damaging the wire.

Begin by inspecting for correct routing of the spark plug wires.

Remove the spark plug wires 2, 4, and 6 from the left side spark plugs of the engine, then detach them from the retaining clips.

Boot heat shields, spark plug wire conduit, and spark plug wire retaining clips.
