  A: The first step for replacing the left Exhaust Manifold requires powertrain removal. First identify the Exhaust Manifold and Catalytic Converter assembly bolt resting against the bell housing and remove it. Then follow with separating the Oxygen Sensor connector position assurance locks while removing the electrical connectors linking the sensors (1, 2). The following steps require removing oxygen sensors before proceeding with the left Exhaust Manifold heat shield bolt removal and shield removal. Start by disassembling the Exhaust Manifold bolt and nuts followed by pulling out the Exhaust Manifold together with the left Exhaust Manifold Gasket for discarding. The Exhaust Manifold Catalytic Converter hanger bolt should be positioned to the bell housing before closing it with a torque of 50 n.m (37 lb ft). Install the left Exhaust Manifold heat shield followed by its bolts while tightening these heat shield bolts to reach 10 n.m (89 lb in). Follow this procedure: tread the Oxygen Sensor threads with equivalent or gm p/n 12377953 anti-sieze compound. Then install the sensors by tightening them to 42 n.m (30 lb ft). Connect Oxygen Sensor electrical wires and apply cpa locks to their mounting points. Finally, reinstall the powertrain.
