2008 Cadillac XLR Oil Cooler Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the Auxiliary Engine Oil Cooler on 2008 Cadillac XLR?
A: Beginning auxiliary Engine Oil Cooler replacement requires raising and supporting the entire vehicle. Next, remove the wheelhouse panel. First install an oil drain pan underneath the vehicle and detach the Engine Oil Cooler hose/pipe from its external cooler. The external Engine Oil Cooler needs to be removed after retaining bolt removal and Engine Oil Cooler hose/pipe seals must be discarded. Installation starts by adding new Engine Oil Cooler hose/pipe seals and proceeding with external Engine Oil Cooler assembly. Screw on the retaining bolts while making sure they reach 10 n.m torque (89 lb in). Check the quick connect fitting by pushing it onto the connector before pulling it to verify correct connector operation. After reattaching the Engine Oil Cooler hose/pipes to the external Oil Cooler remove the oil drain pan and reinstall the wheelhouse panel. To finish the procedure top off engine oil before doing a leak inspection.
