How to replace the rear Parking Assist Distance Sensor on 2008 Cadillac XLR?

The first procedure to change the rear object sensor involves removing the rear fascia. Start by disconnecting the electrical connector which serves the rear object sensor followed by unlocking its housing tabs and extracting the sensor away from the housing unit. The operator needs to remove the rear object sensor retainer ring from its position on the sensor. Do not repaint installed sensors because additional paint thickness will disable the sensor. Apply paint onto the new rear object sensor while keeping the paint thickness to under 6 mils by using a proper gage made for non-ferrous metals. Position the sensor to the sensor housing before installing the sensor fully. The sensor retainer ring needs installation to the sensor before sensor positioning. Reattach the rear fascia by connecting the electrical connector to the sensor.
