How to replace the rear trunk latch on 2008 Cadillac XLR?

Start by opening the trunk with the carpet in the middle of the back area. Remove the electrical connector and manual release cable from their mounts on the latch. Remove the rear fascia. Use a marker to label the latch position before removing its attaching nuts from the trunk panel and taking out the entire latch unit. Insert the latch into its original position on the trunk panel and fasten the nuts in place with 10 N.m (89 lb in) torque. Attach the manual release cable and electrical connector to the latch before putting back the rear fascia. To complete this task reinstall the rear center carpet and secure the panel closing.
