    Q:
How to replace the rear compartment trunk latch on Cadillac XLR? Posted by Customer
    A:
You can start replacing the trunk latch after opening the trunk and pulling back the middle carpet in the rear floor. Detach the electrical connector and manual release cable from the latch. Keep the latch space marked before you remove the rear fascia to prepare its new location. Take out the latch and remove its nuts from the trunk panel attachment. Install the latch into the trunk panel by placing it back in its proper position with proper fastener handling. Anchor the latch system by fastening the nuts through their threads until they get tight at 10 Nm torque. Rejoin the manual release cable part and electrical wires to the latch mechanism. Put back the rear fascia then adjust the center carpet for the trunk and shut its doors.

How to replace the rear trunk latch on Cadillac XLR? Posted by Customer
    A:
Begin the installation step by opening the rear compartment and pulling back the carpet in the center of the compartment. Remove the electrical connector and the manual release cable from the latch's terminal ends. Use Part Paint to mark the exact location of the latch on its new position. Unscrew the nuts connecting the latch to the rear panel surface before taking out the latch. Append the latch to the rear compartment panel and attach its nuts while tightening them to 10 N.m (89 lb in). Fasten the manual release cable and electrical connector to the latch unit after fitting the rear fascia back into place along with moving the rear center compartment carpet back into position and closing the rear storage compartment.
