How to replace the inner LH or RH Door Lock Actuator on Cadillac XLR?

The procedure to replace door manual release actuator inside left or right begins with moving the seat to its rear position and then taking out both floor-mount door release fastener sockets trim plugs. To gain access to the rear fastener for the door release you must first remove the pushpin near the front seat riser cover that faces the door. Next open the front side of the cover forward for access to both fasteners. Two fasteners need removal from both ends of the door release component and the actuator component's backside fasteners. The cable sheath should be unseated completely from its position within the housing while recording the end of the cable sheath in the actuator housing for future installation references. To install the door release insolate the assembly by rotating the actuator towards the rear position while directing the cable through the halves until the cable end detaches from its contact on the latch actuating lever. The door release actuator must be placed with its rear side facing forward during installation while connecting the cable end to the release actuating lever with subsequent forward rotation of the assembly while guiding the cable. Place the cable sheath inside the actuator before fixing together the two halves while the cable sheath end must slot into the molded fingers of the actuator housing. Fasteners should be installed onto the backside of the door release actuator before securing them to 2 N.m (18 lb in) then position the actuator onto the door sill for proper installation while securing both fasteners to the door release with 10 N.m (89 lb in). The last step includes mounting fastener trim plugs onto the door release actuator followed by securing the seat riser cover against its hole on the riser through a pushpin.
