2008 Chevrolet Aveo A/C Expansion Valve Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Expansion Valve on 2008 Chevrolet Aveo?
A: The replacement of a thermal expansion valve begins with disconnecting the negative Battery Cable then recovering the refrigerant. Begin by removing the retaining nut from the cowl end of the liquid evaporator pipe connector block followed by taking out the expansion valve retaining bolts then extracting the expansion valve while discarding the o-rings. Begin by cleaning up all contamination from the o-ring surfaces on the evaporator tubes followed by new o-ring installation onto the tubes before inserting a new expansion valve onto its mounting location. Whenever you install the expansion valve retaining bolts you should tighten them to 12 n.m (106 lb in). After connecting the liquid evaporator pipe through its block retaining nut at the cowl position use 15 n.m (11 lb ft) of torque. After completing the process you should reconnect the negative Battery Cable while performing an evacuation and recharge process of the system.
